GMRSWise

Frequently Asked Questions

What is GMRSWise?
GMRSWise is an independent US guide to GMRS and two-way radio: which radios to buy, how the FCC license works, channels and privacy codes, antennas, repeaters, and real-world range. Rules are quoted from 47 CFR Part 95 and every recommendation shows its reasoning. Read more on the About page.
Is GMRSWise part of the FCC or a radio company?
No. GMRSWise is independent and not affiliated with the FCC or with any radio manufacturer or retailer. For official license records and rules, use the FCC itself; our GMRS license guide links to the right FCC pages.
Did you field-test the radios you recommend?
No. Picks compare published specs, FCC certification, prices and documented owner feedback. Range figures come from the range calculator model or a cited source, never from an invented test.
Do your GMRS guides apply outside the United States?
No. GMRS is a US FCC service. Europe and many other countries use PMR446 for license-free radios, and each country has its own regulator and rules. Check yours before transmitting.
How does GMRSWise make money?
Some product links earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you, disclosed on every page where it applies. Commissions never decide a recommendation. Details in the affiliate disclosure.
Can I request a topic or correction?
Yes. Radio rules, firmware and prices change, and corrections are welcome. Reach us through the About page.
